I have recently had some requests to do another workshop, so I have decided to offer one that doesn’t involve pedaling and beer – we will have to wait for summer for another Cycle Pub Workshop.
It could be a little cold out so I thought we would start with coffee and delicious scones in the boardroom at a beautiful Bend Hotel – The Oxford Hotel. It will be an intimate setting where we will get to know one another and our cameras! During the first hour or so I will be discussing topics such as :
- Lens and focal length selection
- Understanding white balance, aperture, shutter speed, depth of field and ISO.
- Composition and perspective
- Finding good light
- Post production
My biggest goal will be to explore the wonders and capabilities of manual mode! Getting off auto mode is key to capturing better photos.
Natural light is my specialty which means I have to accommodate all weather conditions. No matter what the weather is on the day we will venture out into the streets of Bend and use the environment and light to the best of our abilities. That means a warm jacket, fingerless gloves a plastic bag for your camera. Who knows, we might even have sunny warm weather.
The fun part of the afternoon will be joining me in photographing three different models – a high school senior, a dog and some young children. We will work on posing, composition, utilizing your surroundings and finding the perfect light.
The wonderful thing about photography is every photographer sees and creates a photograph differently. I want to share with you what goes on in my head when I am shooting and help you to learn how to capture beautiful images.
If you love photography and want to learn how to take your photographs from ordinary to fabulous, this is the workshop for you.
Please contact me if you have any questions.
What to bring: Camera, lenses, a reflector if you have one, extra memory cards, batteries, camera manual, a camera bag and weather suitable clothing.
