Capturing Dr. Jane Goodall. {Bend Oregon Portrait Photographer}

Last month Dr. Jane Goodall, primatologist and planet earth activist came to share her stories from a young child to living in Gombe National Park , Tanzania. Today, Jane at 77 years old travels extensively to help change the world.  To learn more visit  Jane Goodall Institute and read this informative article.

As a photographer is was a delight and a honor to have the privilege of photographing Jane through the event, the evening gathering and most of all capturing her connecting with the chimps at Chimps Inc.

Through my lens I saw Jane become Jane Goodall! The woman who has the gift of being able to connect and  gain acceptance from  chimpanzees.The connection Jane had with these chimps was breath taking. They did not want food or items from her they just wanted her!  They felt her fearlessness. If there were no bars between Jane and the chimps I truly think they would have held and snuggled with her.  Yes they are wild animals but after seeing Jane with them, I saw their human like qualities and what inspires Jane to spend her life helping these beautiful beings.

Thank you Jane for all you have done, what you are doing and the impact you are having on the planet.

“Don’t forget that every single day you live, you’re here for a reason. You can think about the small choices you make each day, what you buy, what you wear, what you eat and then try and make the choices that will leave the lightest ecological footprint and most help to society. Every one of us makes a difference,  every single day.” Jane Goodall
